Alpha Gamma Rho is the only fraternity on campus is that is both professional and social. We work hard at develop our brothers for success and service in their classes, careers, and communities. We also play hard with parties, sorority socials, and brotherhood trips and travel. Whether it’s the networking and professional development you do here to get you your dream job, or the life-long friends that you make who stand at your side at your wedding, Alpha Gamma Rho will leave an impact on you forever and you will leave an impact on the world.
Making Better Men
AGR’s motto is “to make better men.” We expect our brothers to grow when they join our fraternity. We do this through:
- Virtues: Our brotherhood rests on the values of friendship, honesty, and commitment.
- Philanthropy: AGR has multiple fundraising and community service opportunities throughout the year, including the largest fraternal philanthropy event at MSU, our Beef Preview Show, which raised over $10,000 for our partners at Agribility.
- Leadership: AGR is student-driven, with multiple leadership and committee opportunities to make decisions for our house, events, and finances.
- Brotherhood: Our house is our family, and we support each other as stuff.
Making Better Careers
Our brothers know that we are all at college to accomplish the same goal: to get a job. That is why we plan activities around academic and professional development including resume building, our AGR career fair, industry alumni networking, and grade contracts and rewards.
Making Better Leaders
AGR has multiple opportunities for brothers to step up to the plate and take charge in our fraternity. The brothers run the brotherhood from managing the house to setting our budget to creating and running our events. There is no shortage of opportunities to build leadership skills.
Making Better Memories
We know our brothers are not here for a long time, so we make sure that it is a good time. As a professional-social fraternity, we have a strong mix of fun activities. Our events include sorority socials, ski trips, intramural sports teams, cross country travel to other AGR chapters, National AGR convention, and, of course, lots of Euchre and cornhole.
A Broader Brotherhood: Not Just for Farmers
Part of AGR’s is to “build a better and broader agriculture”. We know agriculture is no longer just raising animals and planting crops, it is a global and industrialized system that relies on all types of jobs. We also know that our fraternities’ values and opportunities are beneficial for anyone. That is why our brothers continue to diversify in our majors, which include engineering, business, criminal justice, fisheries and wildlife, and more.
Financial Savings
AGR offers an affordable housing option in the East Lansing area. In-house dues range between $3,000 to $4,000 a semester, and include all utilities, nine professional cooked meals a week, and payment for fraternity activities. AGR has scholarship opportunities for our brothers.
